Hello, I am a new Proxmox user. I recently installed the latest available version of Proxmox VE on an HP Z440 that was being used as an ESXi server. It sports a Xeon E5_2640 v3#2.60GHZ CPU, 80GB RAM, 1n onboard GB NIC, and a 10GB NIC Add-On card with the Intel X540 controller.

From the console, I can login as root. However, the machine does not resolve on the network, nor can I ping external addresses.

When I try to access the UI from its assigned URL (https://192.168.1.201:8006) via HTTPS OR HTTP, it won't resolve.

The NIC on this machine is mac address reserved at the router for the IP it's using, which is static.

I have attached a pic of some relevant info: https://imgur.com/a/NInXJJW

Any troubleshooting assistance would be welcome.

I am not a Linux guru, but I do follow instructions well.

Thanks in advance for any assistance you may provide.

This is the 2nd time creating a forum entry for this... I dont know if I have to wait for it to get approved or something, so if this is a dup, sorry. I did look and couldn't find the other ticket... so I am assuming I didnt actually post it.

The screenshot shows "NO CARRIER" for port ens5f1 which is bound to the bridge. In 99.9% of the cases it means the cable is not plugged in, is bad, or the port is bad.
Are you sure that you are using the right port? Could it be the ens5f0?

Once you resolve the "NO CARRIER", come back with updated symptoms if things are still not working.

WTF! I swear, when I started this, I had both of the nics plugged in. And it didn't work, so I unplugged one, trying to reduce the complexity.

So I plugged in the cable I had unplugged.. did another IP -a and it showed as UP. I have no idea why.

Well, assuming it doesn't revert after a reboot, perhaps this will be the only message I post.

Thank!
