Hi,

I have a proxmox server running 2 VM's: The first is 700Gb and the second is 32Gb.

I'm having the below errors (seems a bad sector) when trying to backup the first 700Gb machine to an external HDD while the second succeeded.

Any help is really appreciated as it is critical to have a backup of this machine.

here is the output of the task

Also this :

Code:
qemu-img: error while reading at byte 111176292864: Input/output error

Again thanks for any help in advance.
There is obviously an error at your system disk /dev/sda where the virtual disk of vm100 is located. In a similar case I solved it recently as follows:
- install a new disk with same site
- boot the system with another media (e.g. live Linux system)
- run `dd` for the whole disk /dev/sda to the new disk
- probably you get I/O errors for some segments in this case - repeat `dd` with "skip" and "seek" option starting after the bad segments.

If you are lucky the "gap" (containing bad segments) did not contain important data - everything will be oky then
If not the respective filesystem and/or lvm can probably be repaired by `fsck` etc.
