Have customer that would like to install and run Proxmox VE in this environment with a fiber SAN for storage. Current VMWare configuration allows for an installed ESXi boot and operation across the network. How would this option best be replicated with PVE?

PVE is based on Debian userland with Ubuntu-based custom Kernel.
If your hardware vendor lists Ubuntu as a supported OS for this particular model, then there is a good chance that it will work.

Keep in mind that Proxmox Server Solutions Gmbh does not perform hardware qualifications. It would be up to the vendor or you as a supplier.

Good luck

Right. So, in this kind of hardware configuration, they would be required to run PVE "on-top" of Debian. No other option.
I don't have a clear picture of what you are dealing with, but your statement sounds correct. I believe PVE folks said on the forum that this would be a supported configuration and compatible with licensed stable repo.

You can always confirm with sales@proxmox.com or shop@proxmox.com
