Hello Guys,

I've a problem when installing Windows Server 2012 on proxmox.
I can't see any hard disk when i follow steps of the installation of windows.

I know that i need to install driver when i can't see any hard drive. So i used the latest VirtIO (build 49 : http://www.linux-kvm.org/page/WindowsGuestDrivers/Download_Drivers) but it doesn't work (same problem with build 39)

My virtual disk is formatted into VIRTIO. I've tried to see disk from command prompt and i can see it !

Thanks in advance for your help !

works here. post the output of 'pveversion -v' and your 'VMID.conf'

and make sure your install ISO image is correct (e.g. check md5sum). we had several users with corrupt ISO´s.

Thanks for your quick reply !

This is the outuput of 'pveversion -v' :

root@proxmox1:~# pveversion -v
pve-manager: 2.2-32 (pve-manager/2.2/3089a616)
running kernel: 2.6.32-17-pve

vzprocps: 2.0.11-2
vzquota: 3.1-1
pve-qemu-kvm: 1.3-10

And my VMID.conf :

bootdisk: virtio0

ide2: cdrom,media=cdrom
ide3: backups:iso/virtio-win-0.1-49.iso,media=cdrom,size=57240K

ostype: win8
sockets: 2
virtio0: slow:106/vm-106-disk-1.raw,size=50G

I used the official windows server 2012 CDROM but with no success.
After I've tried with the EVAL iso downloaded from microsoft.
This is my md5 checksum : 8503997171F731D9BD1CB0B0EDC31F3D (correct)

I don't see any problems here.

looks good. should work without problems.

can you run other KVM VM´s?

This is very strange because my windows CD doesn't work before and now it works.

So i have installed with success Windows Server 2012 with my CD.
But the problem now is : how can i install windows server 2012 with the EVAL iso ?
After create a new virtual machine with the same configuration that my Windows Server 2012 (CD), i can't see my hard drive in steps of installation.

It's exactly the same configuration but it doesn't work :/

What sould i do if i want to install Windows Server 2012 with the EVAL iso ?

This is my VMID.conf :

bootdisk: virtio0
cores: 4
ide0: backups:iso/virtio-win-0.1-49.iso,media=cdrom,size=57240K
ide2: backups:iso/9200.16384.WIN8_RTM.120725-1247_X64FRE_SERVER_EVAL_EN-US-HRM_SSS_X64FREE_EN-US_DV5.ISO,media=cdrom,size=432268K
memory: 2048
name: WinServ2012-2

ostype: win8
sockets: 2
virtio0: slow:107/vm-107-disk-1.raw,size=50G

Thanks again Tom !

the size of your ISO looks wrong to me, only 450 MB? not possible for win2012.

see my VM config:

Code:
root@proxmox-7-106:~# qm config 101
bootdisk: virtio0

cpu: kvm64

I really thinks your ISO eval download is corrupt.

You're right !
I haven't see this : size=432268K

My ISO is correct on my PC (i've checked his md5 checksum) but the upload was wrong when i send my iso to the proxmox machine.

It's correct now with the right iso !

Thanks a lot !

Out of curiosity where did you get the ide0 from. I have been trying to install windows server through proxmox using similar settings and it ends up loading files for maybe 5-6 minutes then reboots. I was thinking I need drivers for proxmox to visualize windows server.
