Hello community,

I'd like to install PVE 7.0.1 on my HP xw6600 - latest BIOS version (1.46), but I'm not able to boot from usb key.

  • Created with Etcher not detected: Non-system disk or disk error, replace or strike any key when ready
  • Created with Rufus with dd mode: same as previous
  • Created with Rufus with iso mode: boot up, then says it can't find the PVE ISO. Expected result, as seen in PVE installation documentation

I tried with many usb keys, PVE 6.1.4 ISO, unsuccessfully. Couldn't find any secure boot option in the BIOS.

Any suggestion ? Is my hardware too old to run the PVE ISO boot-up method ?
Thanks

  1. Ensure that USB boot is enabled (Enter BIOS by pressing F10)
  2. Ensure that Virtualization is enabled
  3. Enter Boot Menu (Press F9)
  4. Select the Proxmox Bootable USB (if listed) to start installation

Hi smecio,

Thanks for your answer. I already tried everything
  1. USB boot is enabled, as it boot-up from USB key when created with Rufus in ISO mode
  2. Virtualization is enbled
  3. I can enter in Boot Menu and select USB option
  4. I get the Non-system disk or disk error, replace or strike any key when ready
:(

Hi Birdy,

Actually it wasn't an ISO corruption as I had the same issue with the PVE 6.4 ISO too... But it perfectly worked with ventoy, this tool is really great.
PVE installed and running :)

Many thanks for your answer!
