Hi,
I am aware that Proxmox 1.9 is no longer supported, the Proxmox team declared end-of-life for 1.9 and encourages everyone to upgrade to Proxmox 2. However I wonder if anyone here is using Proxmox 1.9 on debian 6; if yes could you please share how you got it running?
Here are some relevant facts about our situation:
- Proxmox 1.9 is available for debian 5 only
- Proxmox 1.9 is declared end-of-life
- debian 5 is declared end-of-life
- our nodes have 3T disks, and require gpt + grub2 to boot, which debian 5 doesn't support
- our nodes are hosted by a hosting company, and debian 5 installation is not available
- Proxmox 1.9 has been working nicely for us: we have a drbd cluster, and while it's not HA, the possibility to migrate VMs between nodes has saved us more than one time. Recently, 2 disks on primary node broke at the same time, and the mdadm array was gone. But the VMs continued to work without any problem; all data were saved to the disks on the secondary node thanks to drbd.
- we don't mind having debian 5, but the problem is that we cannot install it (hosting company doesn't offer that option anymore).
- we have been trying to get proxmox 2 working, and while it seems a lot more powerful, we have been struggling just to install Proxmox VE (no drbd, no ha yet). Therefore, we are afraid that even if we are lucky enough to get our cluster up and running, if something goes wrong it will be also more difficult to fix.
Regards,
Tony
