Hello all,

im trying to install NVIDIA drivers for my GeForce 8500 GT for GPU passthrough to my LXC containers. When im using the original driver from nvidia, i will receive following error:

please check attachments...

after some googling i found out that in debian non-free repository is also nvidia driver.

my question is, will i break something if i will add this non-free debian repository to my proxmox host?

thank you for any help.

Should be fine to add "non-free" to the Debian repos. Running that for years without a problem.

thx for fast reply...

Code:
root@proxmox:~# nvidia-detect
Detected NVIDIA GPUs:
29:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: NVIDIA Corporation G86 [GeForce 8500 GT] [10de:0421] (rev a1)

Checking card: NVIDIA Corporation G86 [GeForce 8500 GT] (rev a1)
Your card is only supported by the 340 legacy drivers series, which is only available up to buster.

so no luck for me... i have to buy something new :D with passive cooling
