Hi,

Sorry for my bad english.

i recently setup an proxmox server and added 1 SSD Harddrive and 1 HDD Drive for virtual machines (as LVM)

Now i want to add a 2tb HDD for automatich backups so i tried to setup it as a 'directory' but that didn't work.

Is there an way to add an disk for only backups?

I hope someone can help me out.

Thaks in advance

no, the datacenter->storage is for adding already existing storages (not creating new ones)
what you need is under node -> disks -> directory, there you format a disk with a filesystem (and let it create a storage definition for you)

then you do not have the latest upgrades -> upgrade :)

yes im running proxmox 5.2
and is up to date

Your GUI shows an old version. Either your browser is showing a cached page (reload, clear browser cache) or you did miss to upgrade to latest version.
