hello I am scripting my promox setup as my experements with pci-passthrough have crashed the host and I have had to reinstall a few times. Anyways thats not the question. Questin is:

found on the wiki
pvesm add zfspool <storage-ID> -pool <pool-name>
to add storage via cli.
I was woundering if there is a flag to make this thin provisoned. I did a search in the man page but only saw things related to thin lvm?

If you want to do that on every reinstall, you can simple copy over your configuration files. This will save some time - or you can install on ZFS and snapshot before doing any possible destructive activity.
