Hello,
I have to install Windows 7 on Proxmox Virtual Environment 4.2-4/2660193c, installed on Debian Jessie, following the instructions in https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Install_Proxmox_VE_on_Debian_Jessie .
Uploaded known-good Win7 ISO (that works fine with VirtualBox and real hardware) to Proxmox, configured VM following https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Windows_7_guest_best_practices . Started VM, Windows shows the gray text mode progress bar "Windows is loading files ...", the switches to "Starting Windows" and says there literally for hours. No visible action, no colored Windows logo, no animation, no disk I/O, no CPU load, no log output. No way to continue.
XP Home installed without any problems in a VM.
Host is Intel Core i5, VT enabled, 32 GByte RAM, 8 TByte SATA disks.
Copied over a fresh win7.vmdk from VirtualBox 4.3.36, tried to make that run on the Intel System, boots into the "Starting Windows" screen, flickers with the Windows logo, and just stays there.
Tested the same version of Proxmox VE with the same Win7 ISO on an old AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core, 2 GByte RAM, 250 GByte SATA disk, no problems at all, except of course that it is a little bit slow.
What's wrong with the Intel machine? How do I get Win7 to continue its setup process on Proxmox 4.2?
