Hi

I upgraded my ve from 6.4.11 to 7.0.2 last night.

Looking in the boot process i can see that my PVE is LVM2 all clean

Then I see errors that is the same
watchdog: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#1 stuck for 22s
Then like 20 seconds or so later
watchdog: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#1 stuck for 23s
There is another message that appears that shows
rcu: INFO: rcu_sched selft-detected stall on CPU

It doesn't complete the boot cicle.

Any ideas ?

Hi,

can you share some info about the system, CPU model, HW vendor, etc.

You may want to try booting into the old 5.4 Kernel, that should be still installed and available to select on boot in GRUB/systemd-boot menu, so that we can rule out if that's a kernel regression with your specific HW or not.

It's Intel Atom E3845 AES-NI with 8gb RAM and 128GB SSD
It's a crappy hardware I know.
It only runs a high availability (secondary) of my OPNSense.

Yeah, that surely won't win any prices... but still, should work.

Could you already try booting the older 5.4 Kernel version?
Ok, I was able to boot into 5.4 with no problem. I tried the 5.11 in recovery mode and it got stuck as well. Any ideas ?
Also, on 5.4 it doesn't recognizes the bootable SCSI HD.

I tried to find the disk file and it only exists in /dev/pve

If I use ESC to boot menu and select Virtuo SCSI it says it can't find the boot disk.

I'm not sure why the system doesn't mount the disk as it should. What can I try next ?

I tried to install it from the scratch. Booting from an USB and it has some incompatibility with my hardware. It freezes during install.
Msg

Watchdog: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#2 stcuk for 22s

It seems related to the linux Kernel. Any ideas ?
