Want to go Proxmox, but don't know if it'll work with my weird HW config

Hi everyone,

I'm prepering myself to do a clean install of Ubuntu Server on my home server/nas machine.
Here is my config:
AMD X6 CPU on some Gigabyte MoBo
16GB RAM

HDD's on MoBo:
3x Seagate 500GB - RAID0 (those are for system, programs etc)
5x WD 2TB - RAID5 (those are for storage - that's first part of the array)

HDD's on IBM ServeRAID BR10i LSI SAS3082E-R controller: (it's only setup as a SATA controller - all HW RAID functions are off)
8x WD 2TB - RAID5 (those are for storage - and that's the second part of the array)

and there's also a Verbatim USB 3.0 2TB connected for backup purposes.

This setup works nice. Two arrays - one for OS etc, and one for file storage - also work nice.
But I have a few programs that need Windows and some computing power that my laptop is to slow for. So I have VMWare installed on the Ubuntu.
I'd like to use Proxmox for that. As far as installation goes I don't think there should be any problems (I've read some posts on how to deal with Proxmox installation on a SW RAID array, so I think I can manage that without any problems).
My main concern is how to make it work with my 13x 2TB SW RAID5 array. Will Proxmox recognize the BR10i controller and let me assign it for use with the ubuntu VM ? Or maybe the Ubuntu Server installation will recognize it ? Or maybe none of the above, and I have a much bigger problem on my hands ?

I'd be greatfull for any info on that. I'd like to start the installation tomorrow, just as soon as my RAID5 finishes rebuilding after a disk addition.

Really no one has a RAID5 array that he uses or wanted to use inside a proxmox VM ??

I got stuck doing this myself.
Now I have a working Proxmox installation on a 3 disk RAID0 with Ubuntu Server VM on it.
I'm trying to add my 13 disks for RAID5 using:
qm set <vmid> -ide# /dev/disk/by-id/[your disk ID]
from wiki, but qm is saying that I can only have 6 of those :/

Is there a way to add those 13 HDDs to the VM, or do I need to setup the RAID5 array on the Host and add only the mdX disk-id to the vm ?
