I've been having problems with Virtio network drivers in windows guests on two separate proxmox installs and a few different guest instances. Basically the virtio networking works for a bit, then freezes up and no traffic moves, but the guest still thinks it's connected. I'm using the latest fedora virtio driver disc build (1.1.16).

If I set the VMs to single cpu core it seems to be ok. I haven't been able to find this problem in various web searches, which puzzles me.

Is this a known issue?

i've had problems with virtio on 2008R2 and i switched to e1000 adpater which works with no problems. So try with e1000 adapter (the latest drivers can be found on intel's web site).

Cheers Snowman66, that's what I've been doing. Just irritates me when something doesn't work ;)

I've actually got a problem with the e1000 driver on one of my guests, it's a server that was running under xenserver and was moved to proxmox with a MS bare metal restore. For some reason it insists on giving the e1000 interface an autoconf address... So currently I'm having to run that vm with the rtl emulated interface.
