Hi,

We have a running cluster of 4 proxmox nodes (2.2).
We want to upgrade to 2.3 and the idea was to follow one of the instructions, saying to bring vm down, upgrade, restart.

My question is, once first node is up, will it be able to connect to the other three 2.2 nodes?
Should the version be the same for the cluster to run?

Thanks!

Hi,
the version should be the same, but you can update node by node.
Live mirgration between pve2.2 and pve2.3 don't work and the gui shows VMs as stopped which are running (still updated all nodes to 2.3). But this is not a big problem.

If you don't need an fallback-node move all VMs from one node to others (live-migration) - do an update of this empty node with reboot and update all other nodes without reboot.
In this cases the running VMs use the old kvm and the new started the new (and the gui works without trouble).
Then you can stop and migrate the VMs to a new node (which can be rebootet if VM-free...).

Be aware if you have pfsense/bsd guests because of the seabios.
