Hi there. Sorry, this is perhaps a bit off-topic for this forum but I couldn't find one with a better fit.

I'm an independent/boutique consultant specializing in scheduler-first on-prem/edge automation. I'd like to do a Proxmox training bundle but the cost is a bit prohibitive as I'm spinning up this practice. Is there any sort of program for those who are interested in doing the courses but without having access to a big corporate training budget?

If you "only" want to learn and do not require the "paper" at the end (diploma, certificate of whatever it is called), then try to read the documentation, one of the books about PVE and if you want to broaden your knowledge, read about Debian Administration. Cement your knowledge by installing, configuring and running different storage technologies (ceph, zfs, SAN, default) and cluster sizes with PVE.

The docs, or more properly the Admin Guide, tend to be pretty tactical or "How?" and not "Why?" I have quite a lot of experience with OSS ecosystem so getting to How? is not much of a lift. As a former trainer myself, was hoping to leverage the trainings to get to Why? in a time-efficient way. Particularly around cluster/HA + storage + VLAN strategies.

This appears as though it will be sufficient for now:

If I find I need other resources in addition to the LL playlist I will note that in this thread later.

My only recommendation (since i've held a few quick-courses in Serbia) is to get yourself familiar with core components of PVE + zfs, ceph, replication, backups etc. This is usually enough for 1 or 2 level courses.

The later sections of the linked LL "course" does go into those area. I've worked through about half-way to those sessions in the interest of completeness and not rushing things.

By "Why?" I mean for what use-cases one might choose to design with Ceph versus ZFS. Those design-level considerations are often part of training. At least when I have trained.

oh, that makes sense; I guess what you'd want to do is make a universal:specific dictionary, such as
hypervisor: KVM/Qemu/LXC
SDS : ceph
CoW FS: zfs
... etc

I imagine this can be a one/two pager that should explain the specifics of the "Proxmox way" to any trained engineer.
