SYNOLOGY RACKSTATION RS812

I am looking at a SYNOLOGY RACKSTATION RS812 NAS and was wondering if it can be used for storing VM's on it. If so which is best iSCSI or NFS? If this want work then what other Synology NAS would you recommend?

I was thinking if it will work then I might add in 4 3GB in a raid 5 configuration.

The RS812 doesn't seem to exist as product anymore on the Synology product index. Besides that, I wouldn't recommend the use of hardware that can't be (easily) upgraded. The hardware specs don't look promising either.
