[Solved] Resizing a disk up appears to have no effect in Ubuntu 14.10?

My Ubuntu 14.10 VM had its disk resized up from 100 to 250GB. That 100GB volume is an LVM volume. pvresize says "1 volume resized" when I run it, but the size of the physical volume does not increase. What am I doing wrong?

Reading this: http://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Resize_disks makes me think a) this article is a little old, b) I think I am looking at the right stuff to grow the volume, but it just doesn't seem to be doing anything. After doing the trickery with cfdisk and nbd, this command:

Code:
[COLOR=#000000][FONT=monospace]pvresize /dev/vda5[/FONT][/COLOR]

Says it resized the volume, but it does nothing. Help?

ETA: I edited the Wiki page to clarify some points that were confusing.
