Security Support for Debian 5.0 terminated February 9th, 2012

[h=2]Security Support for Debian GNU/Linux 5.0 terminated on February 6th[/h] One year after the release of Debian GNU/Linux 6.0 alias Squeeze and nearly three years after the release of Debian GNU/Linux 5.0 alias Lenny the security support for the old distribution (5.0 alias Lenny) came to an end a few days ago. The Debian project is proud to have been able to support its old distribution for such a long time and even for one year after a new version has been released.

The Debian project released Debian GNU/Linux 6.0 alias Squeeze on the 6th of February 2011. Users and distributors have been given a one-year timeframe to upgrade their old installations to the current stable release. Hence, the security support for the old release of 5.0 ended on the 6th of February 2012 as previously announced.

Previously announced security updates for the old release will continue to be available on security.debian.org.
