Restore vdi on different storage

Hi all, I have a guest with 2 vdi.
The first is hosted on a storage name ssd.
The second is hosted on a storage named hdd.
Not difficult to guess why those names.

I made a backup of this guest.
When I restore the backup, I can select a single storage as destination.
The best thing would be to select a destination storage for each vdi.

What do you think about it?

Restore both e.g. at hdd and move then one of the disks to ssd.

Thank you for your reply.
Right now there are no other options that restore everything on a single storage.

My question may be changed like this:
Would it be possible to add a selective restore as new feature?
May this interest other users?

I think it would be cool if the restore process, asks me to select the destination storage for each vdi contained in the the backup archive.

Rationals:
- Only one step required. No need to move GB of data after the restore.
- Restore may not be possible on a different server. Consider the case I have to restore on a different proxmox server that hasn't enough free space on a single storage (remember the backup archive contains 2 vdi in this example).

Thank you.

I do need this feature too!
In addition, if you have 2 vdi and only one is flagged for backup, you are not able to restore only that one, you have to restore the "entire" vm (after you have deleted it) loosing the disk that was not backed up.
So think about a OS disk + data disk, you do the backup only of the data disk, something bad happens to your data and you have to restore from backup... and you loose your OS disk with all the configuration and programs...

Hi @mmenaz, till now I never tought about a 'selective restore'.
This may be a bit more tricky to achieve because it would probably add more complexity.

Usually I do the opposite of your:
I have a guest vdi with the o.s. and programs and a second vdi storing files.
I backup daily the first vdi.
I do not backup the second vdi by proxmox.
I save file by other methods.
In case of restore, I will restore the vm by proxmox (single vdi);
create and empty vdi;
copy back the data.

Yes, it requires a bit of work.
Anyway, the 'selective restore' you ask about may lead us out of topic.
It's a good idea to ask it in a new tread.

Nice to hear your about experience.
Thank you.
