I have successfully configured Proxmox to filter mail coming from our external mail gateway, but when I try to use it as our outgoing smtp server I get the following error:

NOQUEUE: reject: RCPT from CLIENT[192.168.1.43]: 554
<yyy@yyy>: Relay access denied;
from=<xxx@xxx> to=<yyy@yyy>
proto=ESMTP helo=<[127.0.0.1]>

I suspect that the different mail proxy ports may be the reason. What is the reason for different "Internal" and "External ports when both "Ports" are on the same network??? I have changed so that both are port 25 (which makes sense).

As you see this will not work. You need to assign different ports.

Security. You have to configure your firewall to block access to the internal port from external networks.

Is the internal port 26 by default? Is that the port that our INTERNAL mail server is supposed to connect to? And 25 is used by EXTERNAL mail senders?

Am i getting this correct?
