'pveam update' not updating appliance list

I found several threads where people are getting HTTP404's when trying to download templates. The solution was to run 'pveam update' from the command line.

I am unable to download the ticket tracker for a client due to a 404 error, so I ran 'pveam update'. The command took about a second to run and returned to the command prompt without producing any output.

I still get a 404 when trying to download the ticket tracker template--it's trying to download 3.8.7-1 when 3.8.8-2 is on the download site.

Am I missing something?

I just popped open /usr/bin/pveam and noticed it logs info to /var/log/pveam.log.

It looks like it is updating successfully:

Does the server possibly have bad data for the request-tracker template?

is not, because if you look inside the log, for "Turnkey Linux" signature is OK, only for "pveam-download.proxmox.com" is bad,
also if i do only "/usr/bin/gpgv -v --keyring /usr/share/doc/pve-manager/trustedkeys.gpg" hangs and nothing happens

L.E. I have also installed from scratch and still the same error.
TO mention that i have try "pveam update" on first run, after the server was installed.

Can you provide the full log from /var/log/pveam.log

For example after running here, this is what I got:

I don't see any 'start download' in your log.

I suspect the following:
* Request goes through a http proxy on your network
* Someone having MITM fun on your network
* File gets corrupted during transfer for some other network related reason

What are the md5 checksums of the following files on your server?

Code:
# wget http://download.proxmox.com/images/aplinfo.dat
# wget http://download.proxmox.com/images/aplinfo.dat.gz
# wget http://download.proxmox.com/images/aplinfo.dat.asc
# md5sum aplinfo.dat aplinfo.dat.asc aplinfo.dat.gz
335d88ca7c93fa2d46bcc130309cfabe aplinfo.dat
8a17d8a15cd8a736364122f2f66f40a3 aplinfo.dat.asc
619bfb20820e324f732112eeed6b8601 aplinfo.dat.gz

Code:
root@PGMO-01-SRV-DEB-PRO-XX-XX-41:/home# md5sum aplinfo.dat aplinfo.dat.asc aplinfo.dat.gz
335d88ca7c93fa2d46bcc130309cfabe aplinfo.dat
8a17d8a15cd8a736364122f2f66f40a3 aplinfo.dat.asc
1dc20585d6787c0600f68ea018c6080b aplinfo.dat.gz
root@PGMO-01-SRV-DEB-PRO-XX-XX-41:/home#

- I am not using any proxy server,
- MITM - no way, i am the admin, and the rest of the network is working just fine
- the router is a PfSense machine.

if i download the aplinfo.dat.gz i get the same hash sum, but on the server i get another hash sum.
The PC and the server are in the same network, using same gateway and dns.

Your checksum for the aplinfo.dat.gz doesn't match with the correct one. So clearly the file you're downloading is either completely different or somehow getting corrupted. All in all, everything looks alright on our end.

As I mentioned it might be a network problem.

Following commands might give some more insight:
Code:
# file aplinfo.dat.gz
# stat aplinfo.dat.gz
# gzip -d aplinfo.dat.gz (does it extract properly?)

EDIT:
on my end:
