We just released Proxmox VE 3.0 RC2 (release candidate), including bug fixes after RC1.

A big Thank-you to our active community for all feedback, testing, bug reporting and patch submissions.

  • fix CVE-2013-2094
- update ceph packages to 0.61.2

- libpve-common-perl 3.0-4:
  • fix bug #381: use persistent reservation file for ports
- libpve-storage-perl 3.0-6
  • rbd : clone volume to same pool that base volume
  • extend storage list API with useful parameters for clone
  • fix iscsi session scan bug

is there a reboot required ?

in general : are host reboots after upgrades required? or only for kvm/openvz virtual containers/machines ?
 
from my experience you dont need to restart the host unless there is a kernel update as well, only vm's if there affected (eg qemu updates for kvm vm's) however a reboot is generally safer and faster than rebooting all your VM's manually

Sorry, but /etc/hostname must not include any domain (should be 'mynode01' only)
 
Unable to delete pool! A bug?

Installed v3rc2 and when trying to delete pool, it reports: "delete pool failed: Pool 'xxx' is not empty (500)" Eventhough all the resources (vm) inside the pool are already deleted. Reincarnation of the bug, discussed at http://forum.proxmox.com/archive/index.php/t-8622.html?! Manually deleting the lines in /etc/pve/user.cfg got it deleted. Thanks!

I have same error. Also

3.0 is very good and for the most part is working perfectly for me since RC1 came out without any issues. There's just 2 things I've noticed, not sure if they are bugs or by design.

1. On Proxmox 2.x if you tried to upload an ISO file with a space in the filename it would convert it to have "_" in it automatically. On Proxmox 3.0 it just gives an error and fails. If you plan to keep it this way it might be worth the error letting the user know the problem as it just says "Error 0 occurred while receiving the document." currently. I guessed it was most likely due to the spaces in the filename.

2. On a container I cannot change the IP address on the GUI. I guess I could remove the network and add it back in but I just went to edit it on the config file. I've not really run Proxmox for as long as I am currently so don't know if this was also the case on the previous versions. However it might make sense to allow you to edit the IP address on a container when using the venet from the GUI. I would imagine it's hardly any code at all to add in to allow this to happen.

This one is a feature request I guess but hopefully not too complex either.

1. Is it possible to add in so OpenVZ containers can have their startup order configured like the KVM VM's using the same numbering scheme? I've got a couple of OpenVZ containers that need a network share off one of the KVM VM's. I can set the KVM VM's to start in a set order as needed but I need to be able to configure the OpenVZ containers to start after this KVM VM has come up. So add into Proxmox the boot order for OpenVZ and it works along side KVM rather than a separate boot order. So I could maybe have a boot process like this KVM > KVM > OpenVZ > KVM > OpenVZ > OpenVZ, etc.

Anyway keep up the work. I'm most impressed with Proxmox. There's always been the odd issue that stopped me switching to it previously with live backups being the main one. The performance of KVM is impressive and seems faster to me than ESXi, Hyper-V and Xen from what I can tell. Also having OpenVZ is the icing on the cake :)

I have ibm x3250 M3 series plus hd sata 4 TB Hitachi + memory 16 gb
I try install with Proxmox 3.0 RC2 after sucsess install and require reboot , the hard disk can't boot always return to EUFI loading .
any clue ?
I have try install VMware ESXi 5.1 sucsess
I have try install 2008 R2 Sucsess
So i think no problem with Hardware

I tried to install on a new HDD today. The Proxmox installer cannot install bootloader at the end.

I tried to fix by booting with a live CD and tried to install with the following commands:

sudo chroot "/mnt/boot-sav/mapper/pve-root" dpkg --configure -a
sudo chroot "/mnt/boot-sav/mapper/pve-root" apt-get install -fy
sudo chroot "/mnt/boot-sav/mapper/pve-root" apt-get install -y --force-yes mdadm
sudo chroot "/mnt/boot-sav/mapper/pve-root" mdadm --assemble --scan
sudo chroot "/mnt/boot-sav/mapper/pve-root" apt-get install -y --force-yes dmraid
sudo chroot "/mnt/boot-sav/mapper/pve-root" dmraid -ay
sudo chroot "/mnt/boot-sav/mapper/pve-root" apt-get install -y --force-yes lvm2
sudo chroot "/mnt/boot-sav/mapper/pve-root" apt-get purge -y --force-yes grub*-common
