Hi, I'm having this problem that lvm is scanning my newly added empty disk on boot and for sure cannot find the pve group to boot the OS. I tried to disable the device by editing global_filter inside lvm.conf but it doesn't work. Unplugging the drive solves the problem but I want to pass it to a vm. I'm using h330 raid controller. OS is on a hardware controlled raid 1 and the new disk is set on non-raid mode that passes it directly into the OS. Thank you very much!

Are you talking about pve host? Usually you choose the OS to boot in UEFI/BIOS.
No.. It enters grub first and goes into initramfs. Then it cannot find the pve lvm to boot from and stuck there. I am able to boot successfully without the new disk. Very confusing and unexpected problem...
