proxmox host memory usage

Hi,

When deciding how much memory to allocate to VMs how much should I leave unallocated for the proxmox host?

Can someone recommend a safe estimate so as to avoid running out but also not to waste too much.

I have 16GB RAM and would like to split that between two VMs.

I would give 512MB to the host
