Proxmox and virtual mashines like vmware or virtual pc

Hi all,

I want to test your Proxmox Mail Gateway, but I don't have a dedicated hardware available. So is it possible to run/install Proxmox using vmware or virtual PC.

VMWare-Installation

Hello,

we have successfully tested Version 1.1 on GSX 5.0 and ESX-Server 2.7.

Starting from today, a installation will run in the production enviropnment under VMWare ESX.

Please be aware, that the Display-setting must be 16 bit, regardless if you need this. The Installation-Screens are not able to work with the 8 Bit-Emulation.

Drivers are Buslogic and vlance

VMWare-Tools

Hello,

VMWare-Tools are not able to install and also not needed.

If you will find that the timer is running to slow or to fast, set the Virtual maschien one time to suspend and reenable after taht.

With this trick, the timer works well until the next reboot of the VM.

The problem with the timer depends on the version of VMWare you use and is independant of the Proxmox-system, because the problem occurs to all Unix-based systems.
