Proxmox and overclocking

Hello,

I have a dedicated server with proxmox 4.2-15 installed on it.
CPU is Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700K CPU @ 4.00GHz overcloked at 4.70 GHz

I would like to know how make windows VM scaling at this frequency.

Hi, i dont think it matters what speed the guest shows, but i dont know a thing about PMVE or KDE, still it would be easy to test with something like 7zip benchmark if performance impreves about 10% before/after OC.

I dont have a true answer to your question, sorry, but i been asking for LGA1151 compatibility here (https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/new-configuration-help.27881/) and your experience with proxmox can be usefull to me, what motherboard are you using? had you have any driver issues? im looking for something that works "outofthebox"

Hi,

In the Qemu documentation, i found an option "icount" that I think would make this kind of setting. Unfortunately it does not work.

qm set 101 -icount
Unknown option: icount
400 unable to parse option
qm set <vmid> [OPTIONS]

You have to use the args command for that. Not sure how to set it via qm, I always set it directly via vm config file.

No, i think this command is not supported in proxmox's version of qemu

It's not supported in KVM/XEN according to a simple test:

$ kvm -icount help
kvm: -icount is not allowed with kvm or xen
