Hi,

I want to install a proxmox 2.3 (in order to use High Availability Cluster) on a DELL R720.
Did someone install it on this hardware?

I will have this configuration and I want to know if it is well compatible :
CPU : Intel Xeon E5-2630 -> I saw that it worked on Proxmox 2.1
Raid : PERC H310 -> Don't see anything on that
SAN : QLogic 2662 -> I saw at
http://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Roadmap that it should be supported since v1 but I don't know version)
Network : Broadcom 5720 ( 4 port 1GB) -> seems to work fine on R520
Broadcom 57810 (2 port 10GB) ->
include latest Broadcom bnx2/bnx2x drivers

Do you know if all is good or if I miss something?

thank you for your reply and have a nice day!

Hi i'm running r710 (intel) && r815 (amd) dell server without problem
raid: perc 700
i'm using integrated broadcom for lan + intel e1000 for san

Hi spirit,

Thank you.
Do you know which network card you have and which driver you use?
I saw that there was some error with Broadcom 57810 and bnx2X (version 1.72.00).
I don't know if it is fix now.
You can see this issue on this topic :
http://forum.proxmox.com/threads/12064-DRBD-Assistance
and on other case on this one :

"i'm using integrated broadcom for lan + intel e1000 for san"

Is your drivers were been selected automatically or not?

Hello!

I now have my server with all cards.
It seems to work but I have a little issue on my console, I sometimes have this message :

CPU0: Package power limit notification (event=1)
CPU1: Package power limit notification (event=1)
...

Do you know this one? And how to avoid it?

Thank you for your reply!

Try to set in your bios an option like "gouvernor = max performance."

Thank you,

I will check this option on monday and tell to you if it will be good!

Have a good week-end!

Ok, it's good for one of both server.
I set CPU configuration ti 7Gb/s and not auto.
I think it will be the same for the other.

Thank you very much and have a nice day

Hi,
I just would ask you to confirm if raid controller you received is H310. Is it? What about performance?

I am evaluating more or less the same configuration, but that item is worrying me, since I am reading about raid controller to have write back capabilities and think H310 can not. Any issue with it?

Thanks
Emilio

Hello!

I don't have any issue with it but I don't really check this capability.
For performance, any problem too. I have 3 VM on it but I don't use them in operationnal mode. Maybe I can have more information about it in 2 weeks.
I really don't worry about it.
do you know can I test it?

Have a nice day.

Thanks Bibax for your reply.

Not much experience with Proxmox. But to test performance there it is: pvperf. Have a look at: http://forum.proxmox.com/threads/8902-Poor-pveperf
problem is how to do benchmarks and evaluate results. Search pveperf within forums and find quite a few results from users.

Please, tell your experience. I think I will go for a H710. If so I'll tell you my impressions.

Cheers
Emilio
