Passing internal DVD drive to Ubuntu Server VM, then to Docker MakeMKV shows 'The program can't find any usable optical drives'

I have got a working Ubuntu Server VM, with the hardware DVD drive added successfully and showing up in the system.

I have working Docker running a number of different containers, including a MakeMKV container. I have attempted to pass through my DVD drive to this, and although it recognises it as being there, it says it is unusable. I have a full thread here detailing the exact issue and steps taken so far - https://github.com/jlesage/docker-makemkv/issues/98

There's two possible routes now in terms of fixing it. It's either that I've done something wrong in my Proxmox setup, or that there's an issue with MakeMKV. The purpose of this thread is to perform a sanity check, and check in with you fine folks, making sure I've not done something stupid or overlooked something obvious. Have I?

hi,

have you tried with a different version of makemkv ?

This way of passing an optical drive to a VM only works for discs that contain files, but it does not work for movies, in my experience.
Maybe this post can give you some ideas how to do it? If you can get it to work in a simpler way, please let me know.
