Hello Proxmox forums, how are you all doing? I've recently flipped over to proxmox and decided to redo my whole homelab, however I've now came into some issues.

My ISP in the UK (Sky) uses DHCP 61 to authenticate my creds/connection. I've got a draytek 130 which is in passthrough mode, which acts only as a modem and the external IP should be passed to the opnsense VM.

I've got the VM setup with 2 NIC's, WAN NIC is tagged with vlan 66. LAN NIC is untagged so uses my default VLAN.

Now my issue is what I could not get the OPNSense to get an external IP, but the kicker I've done the following, ran on bare metal, worked fine. It was suggested to me to try a different hypervisor so I done the same setup on ESXI, which worked perfectly fine.

If I connect my sky hub, with the same setup of NICs etc, it receives an IP address from the skyhub, once removed it does not want to get an external IP.

I'm not at a lost as to what to do, I want to keep proxmox however I can't get my head around this issue.

Thanks, LepreJohn

How did you set up your OPNSense VM? (/etc/pve/qemu-server/<vmid>.conf) How is your network configured on the PVE host? /etc/network/interfaces) What did you configure in your OPNSense?

I have a similar setup running in my personal homelab and it's working just fine there, so it's certainly doable :)
