notes column

is it possible to add 'notes' column to search view?

I kind of remember that was there in testing versions, but now I can't find the way to add it.

No, that is not possible (for performance reasons - that list can get very large).

if it's a performance problem, couldn't this field be trimmed?

I can't speak for everyone but most people I know use note field for little descriptions like "Web testing machine", "Production Mysql", or so.

I guess limiting to 20 char would make happy most admins.
