I bought to SSD 500Gb and i plan to install debian + mdadm Raid1 and then over the top install.
When I create new VM ( example: win server) Do I need to activate the checkbox SSD emulation for best performance?
Thanks

FYI, we do no support md software RAIDs and recommend ZFS for that use case, it has much saner safety, error detection and recovery mechanisms.

It normally really doesn't hurts. It's no guarantee for faster access, but the guest Operating System gets more hints that this isn't a rotational (spinning) disk and may use more SSD optimized code paths.

What exactly is not supported? I have proxmox + mdadm raid 10 and it fine work.
How do it: I install debian, configure mdadm and lvm, after install proxmox on debian and it works.

I understood. Thanks.

We do not support it, if anything breaks (and md raids tend to) we cannot help you here.

yeah sure, I know that - being able to do something is not "Proxmox supports" something, as in tries to ensure it works and helps on failures.

I have unfortunately little experience with ZFS.
I understand. Thanks.

If your setup works for you and you know the possible drawbacks it's fine to use, just wanted to make you aware of our stance. :)
Of course. I more experience mdadm and i know how and what to do with it, but I try to follow the advice of the developers of the product I use. ;)
Have a nice day. Thanks
