I wanted to know what was the status of non-Linux OSes support for direct access to native I/O paths of Ceph with RADOS.

I am trying to evaluate which existing program would allow a direct CEPH cluster access in order to avoid using iSCSI or CIFS gateways.
Idea is to use such programs to grant direct access to the cluster from non-Linux OSes such as :

  • Windows
  • Mac OS
  • FreeBSD

I have found this : https://documentation.suse.com/ses/7/html/ses-all/windows-ses.html

So there seems to be a way…

Alternatively and considering the non-mature stage of these program (if they ever exist), what's the suggested way to solve this access issue for these OSes ?

Thanks for taking time to reply.

The iSCSI gateway. ;) VMware is still doing the same.

FreeBSD cluster deployment, so the client portion should be covered as well.

MacOS, I don't think they have any plans to support Ceph.

Windows, as you said non-mature. That would really make the news. :)
