Hi, I'm new to Proxmox, I've tried Googling this without finding a workable solution.
I'm trying to do something (relatively) simple; and I'm not familiar enough with Proxmox and networking to know whether this is something that is done via the Proxmox GUI or customising Linux config files... I'm trying to keep all the (untrusted IoT devices) on an isolated VLAN; but allow trusted phones, tablets etc, to control them from the default trusted VLAN.
I'm trying to do the following:
I've not found a post or article that explains if this is possible, or how to do it in Proxmox GUI, or if this is safely done via config files (like in this article)?
Thanks in advance for the help and guidance <3
I'm trying to do something (relatively) simple; and I'm not familiar enough with Proxmox and networking to know whether this is something that is done via the Proxmox GUI or customising Linux config files... I'm trying to keep all the (untrusted IoT devices) on an isolated VLAN; but allow trusted phones, tablets etc, to control them from the default trusted VLAN.
I'm trying to do the following:
- Keep all the (untrusted) IoT devices on an isolated VLAN 19.168.2.x (done)
- Have my Proxmox Host (on an Intel NUC with x1 LAN port) visible on the 192.168.2.x VLAN (done)
- Connect up all the various IoT devices to Home Assistant (HA) VM (done)
- Make it so that trusted devices NOT on the IoT WIFI & VLAN can see the HA VM.
I think this has x2 subtasks:
a) Assign the Proxmox Host a second IP address on the (default) network 192.168.1.x (associated to the same NIC port)
b) somehow pass that second IP address through to the HA VM so that the trusted devices (phones, tablets etc) can then see HA instance from the 192.168.1.x range without requiring them to change wifi.
I've not found a post or article that explains if this is possible, or how to do it in Proxmox GUI, or if this is safely done via config files (like in this article)?
Thanks in advance for the help and guidance <3
