I have proxmox 4.x server with two sata drives formated with zfs in a raid1 like setup. Simple install.

I have one Centos 7 VM on it that is very large and busy. Takes days too do a snapshot backup. Is there anyway to move it to another proxmox server running 5.x without doing the backup? Perhaps just stopping it and using SCP command etc?

Is there a way to just stop the KVM and just move needed files from from one proxmox box to another then start it on other machine?

You can do this with the replicationfeature. With PVE-Zsync too, but with the replicationfeature the second server must be part of the cluster. And turning the sync you must not stop the vm, you can set the speed, that the server goes (if you have a small one) not down with the performance.
