Hi,
Having problems trying to setup a Windows Server 2008 R2 VM.
At the start of installation I get "Missing CD / DVD driver".
Found various possible causes but looks like most likely is that the IDE controller isn't recognised.
Does that sound right? What can I do to fix?
System is [FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]AMD Phenom II X6 1055T in a [/FONT][FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H.

Cheers.

post the output of 'pveversion -v' - windows should install without any issues.

I'm having the same problem -- here's my pveversion output.

Thanks in advance for the help!

do you install from a physical CD/DVD or from an ISO image? try ISO image.

Hello,

same here with Window7 Pro. The Setup ask for a device driver. I point to the latest RedHat drivers, but without luck. I will try to install from an ISO Image.

Code:
name: win7
ide2: local:iso/virtio-win-1.1.16.iso,media=cdrom

ide0: local:iso/Windows7_GER_PRO.iso,media=cdrom

the win setup will ask for the virtio (viostor.inf) drivers as you specified a virtio disk. this works (here) using the same setup/version. I used a iso image.

check your ISO/CD.

Install your windows on an ide hdd.

Once installed, add a virtio hdd of 1GB and boot in failsafe mode.
Virtio drivers are not signed, so you can't install them on Win 2008 except in failsafe mode.

the virtio drivers from the fedora project are signed and can used to install on virtio, also on win7-64 and win2008r2.

Hi Tom,

thanx for help me out. The ISO was corrupted! Redownloaded it and it works with the virtio drivers.
