LVM+KVM Snapshot Backup Strategy

Hi all,

I am running the latest Proxmox on a debian squeeze system with LVM2 partitioning.
I am in the process of figuring out the best backup strategy for this setup.

One of the KVM guests that I am currently running resides on a 1TB LVM partition, the VM system currently has ~155G data.
When I take a snapshot via the Web Interface, the resulting backup archive file is always ~250G large (no real difference in size between LZO and GZIP, but LZO is twice as fast).
A second snapshot has the same size, so it is a "full snapshot" again.

In the past, my backup strategy was always an "additive approach", taking a basic full backup and then only adding the changes to the backup - which is necessary, since my backup space is external, and uploading 250G every day is not really an option, because it would take several days

So I guess what it boils down to: Is there any way I can achieve something like "additive snapshots"?
Snapshotting seemed the right way to go, because I need to take consistent backups with minimal/no downtime (running system), and I have a MYSQL Server running on the guest, which complicates things.

Any help / insight would be greatly appreciated!
