I have created a VM for windows server 2016 on proxmox and activated the RDP feature . But when I try connecting with RDP it tells me that the ID or PWD is incorrect. When I use the same credentials locally it works fine but it doesn't in distance.
I tried reinstalling the windows server 2016 with a different ISO but faced the same problem. When I try to do the same on VMWare I have no issues. When I contacted microsoft they checked and said everything is good on windows and may be something on proxmox which they do not support.
WHile checking audit logs it gives Error 4625 and I am sure that the account is not locked as it works locally. It is an administrator account which is by default allowed to have permission of RDP.
Please HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are you using domains or workgroups? Have you tried using the 'local' domain by using '.\' before the username ? like '.\administrator' for example?

Hello Bob, Appreciate your reply. Its workgroups, yes I did try that but still the same error message. I also tried localhost\administrator but same thing.

Hi addy

The RDP function normally works fine for windows VM's on Proxmox. If it's not related to the logon domain then I would look at the networking setup. Is the VM you are trying to RDP to on the same network as the desktop you are working from? I assume you can ping the IP of the VM and that the VM can ping your desktop?
