[SOLVED] Installing Proxmox on a dedicated Server

Hi there!

was not able to find anything on the World Wide Web and as such I am seeking for your help in this expert forum:

I want to install Proxmox remotely on a dedicated server (ubuntu 18.4). I was finding tutorials and documentations only for installations via bootable USB stick or similiar.
But I don't have any physical access to the server and - as I am new to this whole topic - trying to find my way around.

May I ask for some good tipps, links or documentations here? Any help is highly appreciated.

Hey Ben,

Admin Guide chapter 2.4 describes how to install PVE on a Debian System. You just have to replace your Ubuntu 18.04 installation with a Debian Buster installation, then you can follow the short guide mentioned before.

that is brilliant! Thank you so much! However, I am not sure, if the Debian Buster will effect the other software I am planing to use, which is Mautic, etc. So for Proxmox, Ubuntu is useless?

hi,

ubuntu is based on debian - most things that work on ubuntu should work on debian without too much trouble.

if your server provider offers an interface for you where you can boot into recovery etc., then it might be possible to download and install directly with PVE ISO as well.
