HowTo: Install Adaptec Storage Manager (ASM) on Proxmox VE

Hi Martin,

although this thread is more than two years old i like to write a question.

I just tried to install the ASM on ProxmoxVE 1.8 and wanted to setup the
alien-package in order to convert the rpm to deb. But I only get the following
message:

proxmoxve:~# apt-get install alien
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package alien is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
E: Package alien has no installation candidate

So is there another way to convert the rpm to deb?

Thanks for help.

Greetings Marco.

the howto should work also with the current version, pls run 'apt-get update' before 'apt-get install ...'

Hi Tom,

thanks for your answer.

That was just the missing point. Everything works fine. Great !

Greetings Marco.

hello martin,

i just saw that the how-to in the wiki concerning the asm-manager had been updated.

my question is if the "
storman_7.30-18837_amd64.deb" also works on an intel-system,
or do i then still have to convert the rpm-package and to use "alien"?

thanks for your feedback.

greetings marco.

Any new updates on this? Newest drivers only come as a .rpm. I've tried using Alien to convert then install but I don't end up with /etc/init.d/stor_agent being created.
