Hi,

I'd like to connect to my Proxmox server through the browser as I do in my network but through the internet.

There is a way to set up this keeping in mind that I don't have a static public IP?

I saw a bunch of forums and webs but I don't see a step-by-step process to do it.

Thank you!

hi,

I saw a bunch of forums and webs but I don't see a step-by-step process to do it.
it depends on where/how your server is hosted. i assume you're hosting it on your home network.

without a static public IP you could try a dynamic DNS (there are various ones you can find online), which you could then use to access your home IP (updated dynamically)

afterwards depending on your network setup, you might have to NAT the web GUI port 8006 through your router (to forward packets to this port to your PVE instance in the local network)

Thanks for the info, it was helpful.

I've set up a host in my.noip.com and I've configured my router with port forwarding to the Proxmox IP and port.

Now I'm thinking about how, when I type my free hostname, this will be forwarded by my router to the Proxmox IP.

Could you bring me some light here?

Thank you a ton!

it should be like this:

user -> yourdomain.noip.com -> resolves to router IP address -> router IP -> NAT portforward 8006 to internal proxmox host IP

if this is all set up, then you should be able to just go to https://yourdomain.noip.com:8006 and your GUI should show up (maybe need to accept certificate warning unless you set up also that with f.e. let's encrypt)

if you will access your host through the public internet like this i would highly suggest you to pick a strong root password and enable 2fa in the settings for added security.

Hi oguz,

Thanks for the explanation.

I've set up all things correctly (obviously not) but I still can't connect through the internet.

My Proxmox Server is running

My router;

and I followed all the steps mentioned in https://my.noip.com/

Did you mind bring some light here?

really appreciated

kind regards,

P.D.

I'm thinking that I missed a step to do in my proxmox, could be? Once the no-ip web and my router are properly configured, should I configure something on my proxmox. As I connect from a browser just typing the ip and port (from my network) I thought I didn't have to configure anything from proxmox or the datacenter i've setup

once the domain name and the NAT/portforwarding is configured you should be able to access your server unless the PVE firewall is activated and blocking port 8006 (not the case unless you configured it like this)

you would connect like https://your-domain.no-ip.com:8006 (https! and accept the certificate warnings)
