Hi. We have 2 servers running in proxmox cluster. We also have 2 San Switches and 2 SAN's. We want to access the our san drives from Proxmox, to have our Virtual machines on the san. We are not sure how to configure it in proxmox? We have 3 lun's that on our san.

Our setup is:
2 x hp proliant dl380 g7
1 x HP Storageworks 4/16 SAN Switch
1 x HP Storageworks 4/32 SAN Switch
2 x HP StorageWorks MSA2000

I'm going to over simplify this but all you do is mount the presented disk as LVM and then add the LVM in Proxmox as a shared disk.

Fairly simple. You don't have to do shared if you don't plan to setup some sort of HA/Clustering deal.

I'm unfamiliar with the MSA stuff, but is this some kind of failover setup? The LUNs are presented by both SANs and you have actually a multipathed environment? If so, you need to install multipath and configure it to get only the 3 LUNs as one device each and then processed as @Jason Morris described.

Hi. I have tried what you guys said and still can't access our SAN. When setting up LVM i have to pick a target. I know that is the iqn promox should find but i does not. I think i have configured somthing wrong on the SAN or SAN Switch. Thanks for the help!

Hi,
don't know HP-Stuff; from which kind of SAN do you speak? FC or iSCSI?

For FC you must enable the WWNs of your pve-host-fc-nics on the Storage-LUNs and permit the access on the FC-switch between the fc-raid WWNs and the pve-host WWNs.
And you must use the right setting on the FC-switch (loop...).

Because iSCSI: you know this howto? https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/ISCSI_Multipath

For both you must see the SAN-LUN(s) as disks on the pve-node (lsblk).

Its FC. I'm kinda new to this, so i will see if i can call a friend for help! Thanks for the help!

Hmm.. on my SAN i made 3 LUNs, but here i can see 6 disks ? I can't use mount them or do anything with them...

Yes, you need to install configure multipath such that the devices are then only 3. Afterwards, you need to create (assuming you want to use LVM on each of them) a physical volume on each and then at least one volume group. Afterwards, you need to add the LVM Volume group to proxmox and are good to go.
