I think this is a memory error but I'm not sure what to do about it. I get it on boot.

    Error:
"ERST can not request iomem region ( ..Hex.. ) for ERST"

If I run mem tests, etc, everything seems ok. running pve 2.1 on dell 1950 with 20 gig mem.

    what you think?

I think this is related to ACPI and is likely some bug in the BIOS not linux, my guess is it will not cause any problem other then the annoying message.

I have some 2950's with 64GB RAM and some 1950's with 16GB RAM that throw this same error, no issues and all my ram is there.

Yea, I have seen it on a few machines here as well, so far no issues. I only see it when I see the machine boot and keep thinking I'm gonna google it, but its never been a show stopper for me either.

Hi Dr. e100 (because you are a great teacher in my opinion).:D

In this link show the problem and the solution:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E20781_01/html/E20790/z40001251465252.html

But i don't know how disable and enable to the kernel command line, do you or anybody can tell me how do it both? Do I need to run it only once?

    Best Regards
    Cesar

    Edit /etc/default/grub

    Add the option to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT
    Code:
    GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet erst_disable"

    Save the changes

    Run "update-grub"

    Reboot
