Hi there,
we're using VMware ESXi/VCSA in our productive environment and want to try if Proxmox could fulfill our needs.
We're using a CAD software (2D) in some VMs that are dedicated to single users. This software got an update and is now able to do CAD in 3D, which will need 3D hardware acceleration.
I would like to do a POC with Proxmox, following this article: https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/NVIDIA_vGPU_on_Proxmox_VE. In addition, we're using VMware Horizon for lag-free remote access to these VMs. I would like to try how SPICE performs against Horizon.
I'm new to vGPUs but have already used PCI passthrough for single GPUs (like a Nvidia P400).
As it's a POC, I want to use cheap equipment. I've checked the vGPU list (https://docs.nvidia.com/vgpu/gpus-supported-by-vgpu.html) from Nvidia. Would the Tesla M10 be a good choice for this test? It seems to support the most vGPU versions and supports 4 vGPUs with 8GB RAM each. That would be more than enough for the CAD software.
Are there any other recommendations or hints that come to your mind?
Thanks in advance,
Bastian
