Data recover - Save machine state

Hello guys, I made a little mistake but with your help I'm sure will find a good solution. I had five VM with their disks stored in a flash drive, and I did not know about that and I removed the flash drive from the server and format it as NTFS. Now, even with no disks, four machines keep running and working fine, when a try to backup it ou take a snapshot, I've got the message that the source of the file is missing, for sure! But as I said, four machines keep alive and I have to find a way to save the state or create an image that can use to restore it to a new machine. Please, help me!

Additionally I will appreciate if someone can give me a tip on how to recover data from a flash drive that was storing Proxmox disks and backup images, I tried to use some software but it was useless.

Well, looks like no one dared to answer :/

I am sorry but you will most likely have lost that data. The VMs keep running but any IO to disk will fail because it is gone.

Regarding data recovery: I haven't had to do this in quite a while. Depending on how the flash drive was formatted when it was still in use with Proxmox VE you might be able to recover some.

Testdisk is a utility I remember. It's best to make a full copy of the drive, for example with dd, so you can try to recover data from that image or use it as a backup of the stick if you try to recover partitions and it goes wrong.

It seems difficult to recover the data, but you can still try programs like Bitwar Data Recovery. I'm not sure whether recovery programs could help you, but Bitwar is simple to use and takes just a few seconds.
