Hi Forum,

I would like to build a container image for proxmox based on Alpine Linux. I can find debian and ubuntu examples, but not Alpine Linux.

Are there any examples of the dab.conf file for Alpine Linux?

Are there any examples of a Makefile to install packages using apk?

Thanks

Densha

Hi,

The Debian Appliance Builder (DAB) only supports Debian derivatives, so using it for Alpine Linux won't work.

While I actually experimented with an Alpine Linux Appliance builder over 5 years ago it was not published, and would require some updates.

What you could try to use now is the distrobuilder from LXC:
https://github.com/lxc/distrobuilder

The PVE-6.4-15 has DAB v3.2.1
whilst PVE 7.2 sports DAB v3.4.1
but some important changes have been pushed into the DAB repo since then too.

In order to compile templates for older distributions
and since the default repos in the archive have their URLs changed,
the attached DAB.pm (rename the appropriate DAB file and upload to /usr/share/perl5/PVE/ folder) should serve as a backport and forward fix.

The official DAB repo @ Github is here.

This post is one and a half year old plus the original author asked about Alpine Linux, so please avoid necro bumping such old threads with only very tangentially related message.

As there are many users who still use PVE-6.4 since it has just become EOL, I would like such users to test out the appropriate DAB.pm and notify any errors in building the affected templates.

If the DAB forum was not locked or a new DAB for LXC forum was opened my posts in this thread would belong there.
