I have a supermicro server with four 4TB sata drives. I would like to install Proxmox on sda with ext4 or ext3 and boot off it. Then I would like to put sdb and sdc in a ZFS redundant array and use it for all my containers and images. Then I would like to mount sdd as ext4 simply as /backups. Does this make sense and can it easily be done?
Currently I simply install as ZFS on sda, sdb, and sdc and use raid1 type setup. Then I use sdd as /backups. Twice now on reboot after an update it has died with "not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)". Thinking booting off ext would be safer?
