Can't download templates, or connect to Plex

Hi guys

I'm going to risk conflating 2 issues here, they might be separate, but they both relate to connectivity so they might be linked.

1. If I try to download a container template, I get an error:
TASK ERROR: download failed: wget: unable to resolve host address 'download.proxmox.com'
What I can do is download a template from elsewhere and upload it; but I'd like to know why the GUI won't do it for me.

2. I have a container with Plex in it; the install seemed to go well, and it looks fine in the console, and I can ping the ip that it sits in; but I get the error in the picture if I try to access the Plex GUI (I realise there is the possibilty that this is nothing to do with Proxmox whatsoever)

The reason I think not all is well in the world of network connectivity is that I have another VM containing OpenMediaVault, and my PC could see it, but couldn't connect to it (I didn't even get the window to add credentials). I fixed this by turning off Windows Firewall and trying again; having connected once, the firewall is back on and OMV still works. Additionally I've had some problems with DNS, so I followed a video showing me how to 'flush it out', and that seemed to do the trick. I haven't been messing about with DNS directly, all I've done is get my new Proxmox running. None of this could be connected at all but I'm giving as much background as possible in the hope of getting some help.

I'm very much a noob at any of this, I'm pretty pleased to have got as far as I have, with the help of youtube, but I haven't been able to find help with these bits.

Any hints or leads however vague would be appreciated.

Thought I'd try to install Plex again in a second container, just to rule out user error. Made a container (having uploaded a template myself), and on apt upgrade:

W: Failed to fetch http://deb.debian.org/debian/dists/bullseye/InRelease Temporary failure resolving 'deb.debian.org'
W: Failed to fetch http://deb.debian.org/debian/dists/bullseye-updates/InRelease Temporary failure resolving 'deb.debian.org'
W: Failed to fetch http://security.debian.org/dists/bullseye-security/InRelease Temporary failure resolving 'security.debian.org'
W: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

Didn't see that before; so my box has somehow lost the ability to call out? Any idea why?
