I don't know what kind of hardware card the original host (L0) has.
My host Proxmox (L1) has a Virtio network card.
If I assign Virtio network cards to my guests (L2), the cards are visible in guest OSs (Windows and Debian), but does not work. Cannot even ping the Vmbr0 interface on the host (L1).
However if I change the guest (L2) cards to Intel E1000 or Intel E1000E cards then everything works.
So my question is, is this normal? Do Virtio Cards not work on the upper most layer guests in a nested-virtualization setup? Or is there something I could do on my host (L1) or the guests(L2) to get it working? I have no control over the L0
Also what is the difference between "Intel E1000" and "Intel E1000E" cards? Which one is better?
