I have some VMs that share the same PCI and USB device, but i only use one of them at a time. Is it possible to backup these VMs while another with the same PCI resource is running? with USB devices there are no issues but with PCI, it will unplug the PCI from the running VM. Being a STOP Mode Backup this should be avoided.

you can use vzdump hookscripts to remove the pci devices before and readd them after the backup

what i meant is that you can set a hookscript that runs automatically during the backup (on various steps, e.g. start and end of a backup)
in which you can remove/add the device from the config
