Hello,

We have a 3 Note Cluster which we upgraded from Proxmox 6.4 to 7. The Upgrade went fine. But now after you want to install a new VM with Windows you can not install Virtio network drivers. On another Host which is only a single Host that was updated the same way it is the same problem. We Only have one additional host that ist on PVE 6.3 where we have no problems installing a new Windows VM.

We use the same Windows Server 2016 iso for everything. We tried Virtio 0.1.187 and 0.1.204

We get a Setup Failed 0x80070643

Hallo ivanov,

thank you for the link. The solution in the Post ist for Problems related to installing Qemu guest agent. We have Problems installing the Network Virtio driver.

Update

We grap another Computer installed PVE 7 on it and joint it to the Cluster. We could not install the Virtio Network driver. Than we reinstalled PVE7 and leave the Host as a standalone Host. Unfortunately we could not install the drivers.

Is this a PVE 7 problem or are the Virtio drivers the Problem?

We Use the Evaluation ISO from Server 2016 from the Microsoft Webpage and the Virt IO iso 0.1.187 from the fedora Webpage.

Can someone from Proxmox confirm this behavior?
works here.

please provide all details about your Proxmox VE versions and the VM config.

also check the installations logs inside windows.

Hallo Tom,

pve Host is a fresh install.

root@pve5:~# pveversion pve-manager/7.0-11/63d82f4e (running kernel: 5.11.22-4-pve)

VM Config:
GNU nano 5.4 /etc/pve/qemu-server/100.conf agent: 1 boot: order=virtio0;ide2;net0 cores: 2 ide2: local:iso/virtio-win-0.1.187.iso,media=cdrom,size=423082K machine: pc-i440fx-6.0 memory: 4096 name: test net0: virtio=86:8A:05:A6:37:8F,bridge=vmbr0,firewall=1 numa: 0 ostype: win10 scsihw: virtio-scsi-pci smbios1: uuid=732eeb46-ca91-45ec-9f47-35983bee5516 sockets: 1 virtio0: local-lvm:vm-100-disk-0,size=50G vmgenid: a4e14c24-4da9-4302-950e-4492dde89d6f

The logs are attached as Picture. If i ad another Networkinterface to the VM (Intel e1000) it did not show as Networkinterface in Windows too.
